Dandelion Stitch
This is a decorative stitch that uses a type of drop stitch combined with a wrapping technique. The stitch takes a few rows to complete. Your pattern will give you all the details on how many stitches to work it over, and the number of stitches between the wrapped stitches can vary. The video below is a general video to give you an idea of how the dandelion stitch can be worked.
Row 1 (RS): Start the row with a new color (if changing colors), knit two, next *[go into the next stitch as if to knit, wrap the yarn three times around the needle and then complete the stitch] five times, knit one, repeat from the * across, then knit the last stitch.
Row 2: Knit two, *bring the yarn to the front, with a cable needle slip the next five stitches to the cable needle, dropping the extra wraps as you transfer them, wrap the working yarn clockwise around the body of the stitches on the cable needle twice, transfer the five stitches from the cable needle to the right-hand needle, knit one, repeat from the * across, knit the last stitch.
Row 3 (RS): Switch to the new color (if changing colors), then knit across all stitches.
The wraps around the stitches can be pushed up and adjusted. If the stitches look misshapen, they can be evened out with blocking.
