How to Work a Star Stitch
This decorative stitch creates a small, star-shaped motif. It's formed by making a series of straight stitches. Threads can be worked fully across the stitch or can radiate from a central point, creating an eyelet in the center. This stitch is often used to add accents, like stars in a night sky.

When working the star stitch, bring needle up through the fabric at (1), going across the full distance of stitch and down at (2), up at (3) and down at (4), then continuing until stitch is complete. If the look of an eyelet is preferred, each arm of the stitch will go down through the center, creating an open hole or eyelet in the center of the stitch. This stitch can be worked over any number of squares or threads and any number of arms or rays. Follow the chart and written instructions for your design to properly work the stitch for that given project.
