How to Work a Loop Stitch Using Ribbon
The loop stitch is a technique used in ribbon embroidery to create textured loops that can mimic flower petals, leaves, or other decorative elements. It’s especially effective when used in cross-stitch projects to add dimension and detail.

Bring needle up through the fabric at the point where you want the base of the loop to be. Create a loop by bringing the needle back down through the fabric at a point slightly to the side of the starting point. Leave a loop of ribbon on the surface of the fabric. Use a laying tool to secure the loop while forming next stitch.
