How to Work a Couching Stitch
Couching is a technique used to add visual and textural richness to a design. A thread is laid on the surface of the fabric and then secured in place by stitching over it. The laid thread can follow any line or curve, providing bold detail that stands out against the background fabric.

Bring laid thread up from back to front and hold in place with thumb. Use working thread to secure to fabric as shown in illustration. Take laid thread to back of fabric and secure.
