Marking & Cutting Plastic Canvas

There are a variety of marking and cutting tools to use when working on plastic canvas projects. Experiment to find which marking and cutting tools you prefer. Crayons, grease pencils and washable markers work well for marking plastic canvas. Sharp scissors, kitchen shears or craft cutters are good for cutting long, straight lines and most diagonal shaping. Fine-tip scissors or nail clippers are good for inside cutouts or small items.

Cut out project pieces to look just like the graph, or count holes as specified in cutting instructions. Some patterns feature square or rectangle-shape pieces that may not have graphs. When you finish cutting, trim nubs smoothly close to the bar and trim all corners diagonally, being careful to not cut into the hole.
