How to Embroider the Fly Stitch
A fly stitch is a type of embroidery stitch used to create delicate, V-shaped patterns. Fly stitches are often used to embroider greenery. The finished stitch looks like a V-shape.
- Bring the needle up through the plastic canvas at the starting point.
- Take the needle down two holes to the right of where you came up. Before pulling the needle all the way through, leave a small loop of yarn on the top side of the canvas. Hold yarn loop in place with your thumb.
- Bring the needle up through the canvas between the holes worked but two holes below. As you pull the yarn up, catch the yarn loop.
- Finish the stitch by inserting the needle back into the same hole.
- Repeat stitch to form various designs including greenery and florals.
