Embroidery Needles

Embroidery uses two common types of needles: tapestry and beading.

Tapestry needles are blunt-ended, and this makes them best for counted-thread embroidery. Size 24 is standard for stitching surfaces up to 28-count. A size 26 tapestry needle is used for 32-count fabrics, and a size 28 tapestry needle is used for 36-count and higher fabrics.

Beading needles are also useful for cross stitch when adding beads to a project. The standard beading needle size is 10.
