Elongated Stitch (abbreviated elongated st)
Elongated stitches are extra-tall stitches. They are a decorative stitch created by using yarn overs and dropping loops. It takes two rows to complete the stitch. In the illustrations the stitches are all knit stitches but this stitch could be worked in knits or purls.
On the first row, knit one stitch, then yarn over twice as shown with the lighter color in the first illustration. Continue in this way across or as directed in your pattern.

On the second row, work the knit stitches and drop the yarn overs as you come to them to create an extra-long stitch as shown with the lighter color in the second illustration.
